Buck Full Moon

This is not an official club event, but something interesting and good for members who are just learning how to use a telescope. The "Buck" Full Moon peaks at 7:36 am, but will be 99.6% full at Moonrise at 20:24 (8:24 pm). Now, as an added bonus, Moonset is 5:59 am; It may look good looking to the west.  Here are some facts: Appearance: Looks large and orange-red near the horizon due to atmospheric light scattering. The name: Named because male deer (bucks) grow new velvet-covered antlers that reach peak development around mid-summer. Best veiwing: Evenings of July 28 and July 29 after sunset as the moon climbs the southeastern sky. All information obtained from Google, except my speculations above.
